Giggles and squeals drift in from the backyard through open windows and screen doors. Daffodils adorn my table although I must confess they are purchased but mine are budding! And I actually walked barefoot in the grass today as I mentally planned my organic square-foot garden. Yes spring is riding a slow pony to Ohio and I will greet her with hugs! My body and mind need the sunshine. If I had it all year, I wouldn't appreciate it as much...isn't that true with everything?
Cheers for Maddie! She called me this morning from school because she couldn't wait to tell me that her Arbor Day poster that was entered in the Arbor Day Foundation National Poster Contest won for the state of Ohio! My understanding is that she and 49 other kids will have their posters on the Arbor Day Foundation's website at http://www.arborday.org/kids/postercontest/index.cfm and that the public will be able to vote for their favorite. Voting begins March 30 (hint, hint). I have no idea what she won as the state winner but if she wins nationally, we receive an expense-paid trip to Nebraska City, Nebraska to attend the awards ceremony. Ok, it's not New York or San Fran but Nebraska is nice!! Anyway, buttons popping.
